United – $436: Newark – Amsterdam, Netherlands. Roundtrip, including all Taxes

[disclose]

A good sale for nonstop service to Amsterdam.

Delta / Air France / KLM Royal Dutch also have the same fare from New York – JFK. But the fare is a Basic Economy fare. Delta International Basic Economy fares do not:

  • Allow for advance seat assignment
  • Checked bags – they are $45 each way
  • Changes
  • Cancellations – so if you cancel after the 24 hour risk free period, the Basic Economy version will have no value for future purchase

Air France and KLM Royal Dutch have the same price and same restrictions – however, online travel agencies are not correctly displaying this.

In contrast, United includes advance seat assignment, normal size carry-on and one checked bag with the fare.

WOW is $300 for early May.

The Flight Deal 7 years ago Reply

@AML – WOW is cheaper on a pure fare basis, but that is unlikely what you pay:
    1/ they charge for everything
    2/ small carry-on allowance (22lb max)
    3/ no checked bag
4/ pay for advance seat assignment
5/ pay for anything on board including any drinks
6/ and finally, united is nonstop and WOW is a connecting flight.

unless you travel extremely light, RARELY is WOW a better deal. its not remotely apple to apples comparison.

A fair amount of traveleers, including myself, do ultra light. I’ll refrain from contributing again.
