A great sale to Sydney!
FAQ from those in LA: No, you cannot skip the SFO – LAX segment—if you do, your itinerary will be cancelled. You can skip the last segment though. So, if you are in LA, you will need to get to San Francisco to start this. But on the return, when the flight lands in LA, you can go home from there. You have to collect your bags in LA regardless of your final destination.

What a STEAL! Booked for late Oct. I was originally planning on going elsewhere in sept or oct and I just threw all my plans out the window and ran for this.
@Jen – have a great trip!
Thank you! You guys are the best. Thank you for all the hard work to post such great getaways!
Great tip! Thanks for posting.
This works for Brisbane and Melbourne as well, but must fly via Sydney, first.
Brisbane is actually around $40 cheaper.
Hi! what dates did you put for brisbane?
The $679 rate out of NYC from yesterday is now showing up on Virgin and Delta has similar rates out of SFO
ITA results: No flights found.
Dead for October & November?
I just booked two more friends for $580 out of SFO! Wooohooo!!!!
I just booked a flight in October for $580 using google.com/flights. Its dates on there thru May – November! I’m so excited thanks so much @theflightdeal 😀
What’s the best way to add a pit stop to New Zealand with this deal?
@Lily – per the post, stopovers can only be in Australia. So a stopover or pit stop as you call it is not possible in New Zealand.
Buy a separate ticket in between your dates in and out of Sydney to New Zealand. It’s not an official stopover so it’s not free–you obviously would have to pay for a separate round trip ticket. With advance purchase, you can get to NZ pretty cheaply combined with this great deal. I just got back from NZ a week and a half ago. It was amazing!
Thank you for posting this – we are going to Australia for Thanksgiving! Can you please clarify how many redeemable miles will be earned on delta? The first paragraph under the “mileage” section says 7826, which is consistent with the 50% rate for T class shown on delta’s website, but then the second paragraph states 2085 redeemable miles.
@Susan – if you got a Virgin Australia itinerary – then its 7,826. If you got a Delta itinerary, then its 2,085. So what are your flight #s?
Ah, I see. We’re on delta metal except SYD-BNE-SYD. Thank you!
Is this deal no longer available for SFO – SYD trips in November?
@Jason – seems like November is sold out. Seems to be only good til October now.
