Is 6 c a mile a good metric to use?
I have an option of using miles for a ticket or paying money.
The cost comes to 5.5 cpm. If I use the miles I use up 37500 miles and the value for each mile comes to 1.7 cpm.
Which is a better deal ? I am worried of the coming devaluation of AA so the numbers would be worse post devaluation.
Thanks
@credit – so you are spending 37.5k miles for a $221 ticket? that’s HORRIBLE use of miles. 37.5k miles, you can almost go to Europe off-peak roundtrip (2.5k more is needed). Also $221/37,500 miles is 1/2 penny per mile. Really bad use of miles for this.
Hi, let me explain more. The trip is 12000 miles long, costs 669 (jnb-sfo) and needs 37500 miles for economy. Not as bad as your numbers but still think paying cash is better. Miles credited to AS in full unless they change the policy till then. Thanks
