Malaysia Airlines does not operated any flights between the US and Asia. You will take American under Malaysia Airlines flights numbers from the US to Asia. You can connect in either Japan or Hong Kong. If you connect in Japan, you will either fly on Japan Air or Malaysia Airlines between Japan and Malaysia. If you connect in Hong Kong, you will fly on either Cathay Pacific or Malaysia Airlines between Hong Kong and Malaysia.

This is one of the cheapest fares we have seen between Dallas and Kuala Lumpur ever. We have not played with it — but per the fare rules, you have one free stopover and additional ones at $50. This fare also only earns 50% mileage with American. We are posting it because the American flights using the same carrier combinations is over $1,500!
